Introducing Our End of Year Pre-School Showcase

At New Forest Academy of Dance, performance is an integral part of the dance journey. It gives students the chance to share what they have been learning, build confidence, work as part of a team and experience the joy of dancing for an audience.

For our school-age students, this includes our larger staged productions, community performances and Musical Theatre shows. Starting in 2026, we are delighted to introduce a new opportunity designed especially for our youngest dancers: the End of Year Pre-School Showcase.

Young NFAD Dancer on Stage

A gentle first step onto the stage

The End of Year Pre-School Showcase has been created for students in our NFAD Tots and NFAD Movers classes. It offers a relaxed, age-appropriate introduction to performing, giving our youngest dancers the chance to take their first steps onto the stage in a supportive and familiar environment.

For many children, performing in front of an audience is a big moment, exciting but also perhaps a bit nerve-wracking. Our aim is to make that experience feel positive, manageable and exciting. The showcase is designed to feel gentle and encouraging, with simple costumes, familiar teachers and assistants close by, and loved ones watching from the audience.

Rather than a large production, this is a small and carefully planned celebration of the children’s progress. It gives them a chance to experience the magic of performing while still feeling safe, supported and confident.

Celebrating progress at the end of the year

The showcase will take place at the end of the academic year and serves as the end-of-year celebration for our pre-school students.

During the event, each class will have the opportunity to share some of the work they have been doing in class, perform a short dance and receive their end-of-year certificate. It is a lovely way for families to see how much the children have grown in confidence, coordination and independence over the year.

At this age, progress can be seen in so many different ways: joining in more readily, remembering simple sequences, listening to music, moving with confidence, following a teacher, working alongside friends and enjoying being part of a group. The showcase gives us a special moment to recognise and celebrate all of those achievements.

Building confidence from the beginning

At NFAD, we believe that performance should be a positive and confidence-building experience. For our youngest students, that means introducing the stage gradually, with plenty of reassurance and support.

The Pre-School Showcase helps children become familiar with the idea of performing in front of others without the pressure of a full-scale show. Teachers and assistants will be with them throughout, helping them settle, guiding them through the event and supporting them on stage.

This first experience can be an important part of their wider dance journey. As students move through the school, they will have many opportunities to perform, from watching weeks and community events to larger productions. The Pre-School Showcase gives them a gentle foundation for those future experiences.

A special moment for our youngest dancers

Our first End of Year Pre-School Showcase will take place on 19th July 2026 at Brockenhurst Village Hall.

We are very excited to begin this new tradition for our NFAD Tots and Movers students. We hope it will become a joyful and memorable part of their early years at NFAD — a chance to celebrate their progress, share their confidence and enjoy their first experience of shining on stage.
