Show Season Success at NFAD: Two Spectacular Spring Performances

Lead cast of A Tin Man's Tale singing and dancing on stage

2025 Show Season at New Forest Academy of Dance

We have just wrapped up a truly unforgettable spring show season, with not one but two dazzling productions lighting up the stage at Brockenhurst Village Hall, to celebrate our Principal Miss Kayleigh’s ten year anniversary running the school.

Over the Rainbow – Lower School Takes Flight

Held on Sunday 16th March, Over the Rainbow saw 90 of NFAD’s Lower School students (ages 2–9), along with our lead cast, take to the stage — many for the very first time. It was a joyful celebration of early dance, packed with colourful costumes, proud moments, and lots of rainbow magic.

Across two lively 60-minute shows, the audience was treated to a mix of ballet, modern, tap, street and musical theatre. With the dress rehearsal and performances all taking place on the same day, our young dancers experienced the thrill of show day in a warm, supportive environment. Teachers, older students, and helpers were on hand throughout to guide them every step of the way — creating lasting memories for performers and families alike.

A Tin Man’s Tale – A Brand-New Original Production

Three weeks later, NFAD’s Upper School students (ages 8 and over) returned to the same venue for A Tin Man’s Tale—a brand-new, original production inspired by Principal Miss Kayleigh ten-year (tin) anniversary leading the school. This imaginative retelling of the Tin Man’s journey through Oz combined storytelling, dance, and drama to explore themes of self-discovery, courage, and staying true to yourself.

The production featured:

  • 25 original numbers across six dance styles: ballet, tap, modern, contemporary, street, and musical theatre

  • A 17-page script and a full narrative arc

  • Nearly 200 costumes, including hundreds of meters of hand-sewn tulle and thousands of sequins

  • A company of 90 students, including soloists and ensemble performers

This was NFAD’s most ambitious project to date — a true labour of love, rehearsed intensively over nine weeks and brought to life with passion and precision.

Behind the Scenes

A huge thank you goes out to the 90 volunteer matrons, 16 backstage assistants, and our full technical, photography, and videography team. These productions simply wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our wider NFAD community.

From the students and teachers to the backstage crew, every single person pours their heart into making these shows something really special. It’s a true labour of love, and worth every moment.
